The Bazbar loves us. We love the Bazbar. The Neighbor loves neither of us.

I’m sad to report that the band will not be playing the Bazbar in St. Barths this week for the Bucket race.

In short summary, after years of pesky volume complaints from a longtime neighbor of this outdoor music oasis known as the Bazbar, he succeeded in having the club shut down for a two week period (about a month ago). Now, with his business at stake, our brave Bazbar owner has changed his music to acoustic acts for the remaining season.
The EGB is not an acoustic act. You know that, we know that, well…everyone knows what kind of band we are. So, together we decided to bag it this year, for fear the club might be shut down and everyone involved be out of work (I mean, no matter how quiet the band is, we’re better at lighting things up, that’s what we do).

A sad development indeed, although there are always upsides. The club will remain open. Adam Falcone is a wonderful musician and he’ll be great. I will be there this week (sort of vacationing, and who knows? maybe sitting in for a tune) but mostly showing my support for the club, and the island of friends and family I have come to know.
If you see me, make sure to say hello. Otherwise, catch you stateside in a week!
With love.

A weekend with the band in Brattleboro VT.

Thought I’d give you guys a heads up on this one.  This promises to be a great show at the beautifully restored “Latchis Theater” in Brattleboro, VT on Sat April 4th.  One night, one show (Saturday), but still, why not spend the whole weekend right?

When the going gets tough, the tough make records!

So, thought you all might want an update.  And I’m here to give you one.  Phil Antoniades (long time EGB drummer) has now converted his 100 year old barn into a makeshift recording studio (this is a very, very cool thing).  After a year of playing with the new trio, our plan is simple:  We’re going to record everything.  That’s all the tunes backlogging from the past few years, and the new ones as well.  After releasing 4 records in 07′, I took 08′ off from the studio.  And now I’m back.

New band.  New sound.  New songs.

I’ll keep you up-to-date on all of this as it comes about, but there’s going to be a lot of material.  Like I mentioned above, we’re going to record everything, and then sweep through it and make a collection that fits together.  Rest assured, there will be enough B-sides to make another complete recording.  That is, we’ll have a lot of new stuff at hand.
