So, in the studio this weekend putting the finishing touches on lots of songs. Got a bit of downtime during playbacks, so thought I’d give you the complete “songlist.
“Note” (Order of appearance Here “May or May Not” be accurate There, or…on that disc. Somewhere. Whenever it’s finished).
“And You’re Gone” (you may remember this one from the Peter Frampton show a few years back, never made it onto a record till now. Ah, Nicole you will be so happy).
“I Can’t Wait” (a song I’ve rewritten maybe 15 times since I was 17, premiered in St. Barths last year, Bassist Thomas Hebb smiled when he heard it, and then smiled again later when he sang back-up on it, and so…VOILA!)
“What Happens” (Originally titled “Shit Happens” figured I might get the shit sued out of me). I’m kidding again. You probably don’t know this one yet.
“Help Me Up” (Band has played this one a few times, and we’ll be playing it a lot more). Still don’t know what it’s about.
“Middle St.” (You might know this one as “Love, Love, Love: ((the chorus)) usually linked to our version of Stevie’s “I Wish.”). And yes, it’s 7 minutes long!!!!
“Lover” (You know this one, we’ve been playing it for about a year and you always slow groove when you hear it. Guys, you bring your ladies to the show for this one).
“I Don’t Want To Know” (Until recently we’ve been using this as a “night opener,” with the original and much slower version on”Modern Soul Vol 1″ -this is the new and improved version, and comes with a small beverage.)
“Closer” (This is usually attached to “I Don’t Want To Know”) You’ll recognize it when you hear it. But, they’re only distant cousins on the CD.
“Don’t Cry To Me” (This is usually attached to Sexy Lady, otherwise referred to as “Sexy Ladies Don’t Cry To Me” which didn’t make sense. So we recorded it on it’s own.)
“Regrets” (I could tell you what it’s about, but if I did it would take the fun out. I didn’t feel like recording this one, the band urged me to do it, and now it’s one of my favs).
“Sing-A-Song” (Premiered at the last B.B. King show, people kept asking me “What is it? What is it?”) Well, it’s…”Sing-a-song.”
I may have borrowed the title from “Earth, Wind, and Fire” but I stole everything else from this little known Boston guy Evan Goodrow.
“Let Me” (Nothing to say, it will be a surprise). Maybe wait until your birthday to play that track?
“Your On My Mind” (This is an old one, like 4 years or 5 years or something, which is like old right? It doesn’t sound old anymore -especially to someone who’s never heard it).
“Song # 15 (Mystery Song). No one knows where it came from, why it’s here, what it’s doing, or in what direction it’s heading.
It’s just not here. It’s on his website “WORLD OF PHIL.”
This is written about the MUSIC BIZ (warning: if you don’t know much about the music biz, it could be confusing) Still, an insiders look…

I had posted the ORIGINAL 2007 St. Barths Blog on it’s own page (on the left), there had been some reports of broken links etc. but it’s now fixed. Apologies to the Island for not being able to join you this year, the new recording has got to come first!

If you have “A NIGHT AT THE BAZBAR” then you might like to read this (kind of gives you the backstory).

Thanks guys!
Hey guys, a big thanks to everyone who came out to the Mals show last night. It was kicking! Boston drummer Ryan Broderick played great subbing on the drums for Phil, (he was in Austin TX at the South by Southwest Music convention). The rest of the Spring season is devoted towards finishing the new recording, although there are a few special events coming up. Did anyone get a shot of Christina (the birthday girl in red) last night? Send it in for the scrapbook!
See you guys again!
