EGB with B.B.King @ The North Shore Music Theater

Posted on: December 2, 2008 — Posted in: Uncategorized

When I was 13, I used to sit and play my guitar listening to BB King records: For hours I would just get lost in the sounds and try to emulate with my fingers what I heard in my head (as guitarists this is how most of us start out!)
That Was Then – This Is Now
In two weeks, the band will open to BB—for the 3rd time!
Wow!
What a world.
When BB was my age he made almost a dollar a day picking cotton (he started playing his guitar on street corners because he perceived a greater opportunity).
For my generation and for where I lived, there wasn’t much cotton to be picked, so we headed to the fast food chains, gas stations and local grocery stores. (See below: Me at 17 doing the gas station gig less than a mile from the North Shore Music Theater)

t sometime and somewhere along the line, I got tunnel vision about my music—my craft. I saw myself doing exactly what I am doing now. I saw myself on the same stage as he King.
And I stopped caring about the things I couldn’t control, the outside influences (bad economy, music industry dysfunction) and just focused on the music and the dream.

I had this vision and I’m living it now.

Thanks everyone for being a part of this. Every time you came out to a show, every time you spent a dollar on a CD, or every time you dropped my name to a friend that you knew would love the music.
That makes you a part of it.
